Is Lucid Trading the right choice?

Lucid Trading sells its evaluation as a one-off payment, with an end-of-day drawdown on the four account sizes we recorded, and — this is the trait that really sets it apart — a funded account activation that is explicitly free, carried as such on every size: a displayed zero, dated and sourced like the other lines of the pricing, not a cell left blank. On the “evaluation” half of the journey, the pricing table on this page is therefore the whole invoice, not a headline price that a second payment will top up after you pass.

That legibility has a counterpart, and it reads a little further down, in the funded account table: it is after you pass that the rules tighten. The payout split is 90/10, the drawdown is still calculated at the end of the day once funded and trading through economic releases is allowed — but a consistency rule appears where the evaluation imposes none, and profits come out under a scaling payout cap, above a minimum amount per request. This firm's transparency score is high because it rewards facts of publication — stated amounts, a predictable drawdown, an announced split — and not the generosity of the terms: a fully published contract can still be a constraining one.

One last point to take in before comparing: Lucid shows three prices for the same product — the struck-through list price, the price displayed after a permanent discount, and the one actually charged once the promo code is applied. Our tables keep the list price for the evaluation, and the note on each line gives the other two. The reset is the exception: Lucid publishes no struck-through price for it, so the amount we keep there is already the discounted one — its note says so line by line: that is the most cautious choice, since a permanent discount with no end date can disappear without notice. Only the third matters to your cash flow. The all-in cost calculator lets you include that code in the scenario or leave it out.

Strengths

  • The payment is one-off: an evaluation that drags on does not cost a penny more, where a monthly subscription bills again for every month spent without passing.
  • The drawdown is EOD on all four sizes — it is recalculated at the close and does not follow the unrealised profit of a position never closed out.
  • No consistency rule and no daily loss limit are published for the evaluation: a single line decides the fate of the account, the drawdown line.
  • Every plan now carries a stated amount, down to the reset price. That was not the case in our previous record, and the gap was ours: the prices for LucidFlex and LucidDaily did exist, behind a tab and — for Daily — a set of options you had to choose before the price appeared. So the page no longer charges the firm with an opacity that was our own.
  • The reset costs less than the evaluation at each of the four sizes: failing does not send you back to the entry price.

Watch out for

  • The constraint moves to after you pass: the evaluation imposes no consistency rule, the funded account carries one. So read both tables before concluding that this firm leaves your hands free — the absence of a rule during the test says nothing about the phase that follows.
  • Profits do not come out in free flow: the funded account applies a scaling payout cap and a minimum withdrawal per request. No wait is imposed before the first payout, but the cap itself only lifts in tiers — it is the pace, more than the split percentage, that decides what you collect in the first months.
  • The current discount has no published end date and the struck-through price is permanent: a reduction with no deadline is a price, not an opportunity to seize.
  • The promo code applies as a fixed amount and not as a percentage: its real weight changes from one size to the next and cannot be derived from a single rate.
  • The rules table announces a minimum of only one trading day, but no validity period is published for the evaluation: nothing says how long the account you bought stays open — and that is precisely what decides whether a one-off payment stays advantageous; to be checked in the rulebook before buying.

Who it suits

This model suits the trader who wants to know their bill before buying and who has no idea how long their evaluation will take: an irregular rhythm, a few weeks off, a restart — none of that weighs on a one-off payment, whereas the same journey multiplies the bill at a monthly subscription firm. It suits less well whoever decides first on the terms of the funded phase: the split is 90/10 and no wait is imposed before the first payout, but a consistency rule is added once the account is obtained and requests fall under a scaling cap — the funded account table carries those lines, read them before paying for the evaluation. It also suits poorly the micro-lot scalper, microscalping being given as prohibited or restricted, whoever requires a platform not among the seven recorded, or whoever wants an account larger than the biggest size on offer. The comparison lets you set this choice against the other firms on your own assumptions.

What are the trading rules at Lucid Trading?

The drawdown is calculated at the end of the day: the maximum loss limit updates once a day on the closing balance, and not at every new high of your intraday curve. That is the whole practical difference with intraday trailing, which climbs behind every unrealised profit: a heavily winning trade you let come back to zero has cost you nothing here, whereas it would have moved the line — permanently — in a trailing model. It is the most important rule point on this page, and it is identical on all four sizes.

The profit target and the drawdown do not grow at the same rate from one size to the next, and the rules table shows it column against column: on the smallest account the target barely exceeds what you are allowed to lose; on the two largest, you have to make markedly more than your total margin for error. Buying bigger therefore does not buy an easier evaluation — the ratio hardens with size, while the price goes up. Read those two columns together before choosing on the account amount alone.

The absence of a published daily loss limit is both a comfort and a trap. A comfort, because no rule throws you out on a bad session as long as the drawdown line holds. A trap, because nothing stops you from consuming your whole margin in a single session: the firm imposes no pace on you, so it is up to you to give yourself one. The same caution applies to consistency: no rule of that kind is published on the evaluation side, but those rules usually live on the payout side — and the funded account table does carry one. An absence during the test therefore settles nothing about what follows, and Lucid is the example: the rule does not exist in the evaluation, it exists afterwards.

The reset is paid for and billed per reset, but it stays below the price of the evaluation at every size: a failure does not restart from zero on the pricing side. The useful calculation before clicking is simple: add up the purchase price and the number of resets you reckon yourself capable of consuming, then compare that total with the one from a subscription firm over the duration your evaluation will really take. That is exactly what the all-in cost calculator does, and its reference scenario already includes one reset.
